Calne FC continue to get their season back on track with an impressive 9-2 home win against Worton & Cheverall, February had been a tough month for Calne with the team not winning a match and it was important after theses defeats to have a good reaction. We had that last week away at Warminster and again today playing with confidence throughout the team and with Carl Ledbury in goal the back four now look more relaxed. Although Carl was not involved in a lot of the game, he did make a number of good saves and created two of the Calne goals by getting the ball forward quickly to the front players. The performance today shows how much this team has developed over the season, we controlled the game from the start and didn't allow the visitors to settle. Rory Worthington scored after just 4 minutes, closely followed by a well converted corner by Brad Partner, a good clearance from Sam Haywood allowed Worthington in for his second on 11 minutes. Worton pulled one back at 22 minutes however Calne pushed on and scored three more before the break, Oliver Coulson (30), Keiren Salmon (31) & Worthington got his hat-trick on (40). The second half was much the same as the first,Calne played some good flowing football and credit to the Worton side they had a number of chances but couldn't put them away. Worthington scored again on 43 minutes followed by Josh Croucher (52) & Coulson (61). Worton scored a well taken free kick on 68 minutes and the match finished 9-2.
We were delighted with the overall performance today, the players worked hard for each other and it was a terrific match to watch.
MOM was awarded to Carl Ledbury today for a solid goal keeping performance.
Well done lads!!!
