Calne FC was established in the summer 2009 following the merger of White Horse Juniors FC and AFC Calne to provide a focal point for boys and girls in Calne and the surrounding areas to extend their football skills and test them against other local sides. The club regularly fields teams that range in age from under 6’s upwards.
From the beginning the club has grown steadily, with some original players who began as 6 and 7 years old now playing for the club as under 11s. White Horse Juniors now has a membership of some 130 boys and girls with a supporting crew of friends and family.
White Horse has a policy of ensuring that all children, irrespective of ability, will have the opportunity to join the club and play for a team in their age group. Parents, friends and family are encouraged to participate within the club and we are always looking for future potential managers. Any suitable candidates will be put through training for their FA Coaching Badges.
We have large and successful squads in many age groups who play in the North Wiltshire and Mid Wiltshire Leagues. They are coached by our team of managers, all of whom are required to hold minimum FA Level 1 certification, which covers coaching, child protection and emergency aid. Some of our managers have achieved FA Level 2 qualifications. All managers and any helpers are required to attend the FA child protection course and to be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
The club achieved F.A. Chartered Standard Club status in August 2005 and is now aiming towards the next stage, Development Status. We also plan to move into the new facilities at Beversbrook when these are completed in late spring 2009.
As well as playing league matches during the football season White Horse promotes all teams throughout the off season by entering tournaments in and around Wiltshire. We also run our own tournament held at the John Bentley School in July every year.
We are always looking for new recruits in all age groups. Please contact the team manager for your age group which can be found under the club documents section of this website.
